The Indigo Mansion

In the night it stands bold and tall,
Indigo blue and colours defined.
Serene and peaceful within its four walls
Majesticly restored it stands refined.

Relish thy richness and savour thy quaintness
Alone in thy courtyard I sit solemn and awed
Living the moment and enjoy the stillness
Soaking in thys majesty with our souls united

Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion
Situated In the district of George Town, Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion sits right at the beginning of the heritage trail near E&O Hotel. Its vivid colours and eclectic character makes it a highly photogenic destination point filled with atmosphere. Its majestic ambience with its fusion of oriental and colonial touch gives it a unique character to wow about. When I first stepped into this photogenic mansion, I was drawn by its character and when I found it has guest rooms, I know where I would house myself next time I come to Penang.

Cheong Fatt Tze was an Aristocrat who loved to travel and owned many mansions throughout the region, but penang was his favorite place and hence its in here that he built his most lavished masterpiece on the best fengshui spot and in the "perfect" fengshui way. Built in 1880s, it became really runned down and was restored and put into the Unesco programme in year 2000, winning the distinguished acolade of "Most Excellent Project UNESCO Asia Pacific Heritage Awards 2000".
